The demand for greater speed in connectivity is growing day by day. 5G is the technology that meets this need, offering users the benefits brought by high speed.

The value of 5G is its immediacy, with its latency increasing from 20 milliseconds to less than 10 milliseconds and theoretical speeds greater than 1 Gbps.

The gradual implementation of 5G in Andorra started in December 2021. Since December 2021, compatible Xiaomi, Huawei, Sony and Oppo devices have been able to use 5G.

As of March 2022, users of the iPhone 13, iPhone SE (3rd generation), and iPhone 12 can activate 5G on their phones. In the initial phase, the activation of 5G for iPhone is manual.

To use 5G on your iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max, you need to update your phone with the latest iOS version and activate 5G:

• On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software Update, and update to the latest version of iOS.
• Then go to Settings > Mobile data > Options > Voice and data, and press 5G.

If you are setting up your iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max for the first time, follow those steps once you've completed the initial setup of your iPhone.

5G is available in the centre of each parish, with no need to install a new aerial or use frequency bands other than the existing ones.

As with 4G, implementation of 5G requires each phone manufacturer to approve the network on which the mobile devices it has made are to be used.
The next manufacturer to approve the network will be Samsung. 5G is expected to be available for compatible Samsung models towards the end of June.
